I know, I know I said I'd post yesterday about the goodies I received in the mail but I've been too lazy and "meh" to upload them from Charlie. Soon, I promise. I do have some FOs to share, and a plan for April. When don't I have FOs to share, and plans? Ha. I also think I have a touch of startitis. There's like three projects I want to start ASAP, but "no, I have to get that finished!" Last time this happened, I was left with about 10 'hibernating' projects on Ravelry. Oo, we should get to those.
Remember back in the day when you were a Crafty Child and one of your first projects was a plastic loom and polyester loops and you'd sit there for an hour and weave and then BAM, you'd have a potholder? You too? Well I found one of those looms at Lake George over the summer, and bought me some loops and have just now gotten around to making a potholder. They're really awesome, and so cute! I don't know why it came out so tiny though, I guess if I want a big one I'd have to stitch them together or something. I don't know if I'd trust it with extremely hot objects, though, burning plastic does not smell good. It's funny how amusing it was, and how much I enjoyed it. It's relaxing, like coloring. (Yes, I'm 22 and color when I'm upset. Better than hitting the bottle, no?)
And another square for my grandma's afghan:
This is 94: Gothic Square by Jan Eaton from 200 Crochet Blocks.
Yargh: CSS white and soft green; LB's POUND of Love in lavender
Hook: I hook
Mods: To get 6 inches, I did a hdc border/last round instead of dc
Notes: I like how the 'gothic' refers to Gothic arches, instead of Marilyn Manson, but mine look a little wonky. Maybe once it's all sewed together it'll work out. Which brings up a new connundrum, what color do I join it with? Green? White, or is that too much white? Definitely too much purple. The variegated I'm also using is thin. Is there another color? Do I use flat braid joining? Sc joining? Just sew it/go for an invisible seam? AGH. Oh well, I don't really need to worry about it, though, it's not going to be given till December.
For April! On Craftster, it's the Granny-a-Day CAL! and I am so in. But what do we do? Figure out how to bust our acrylic stash? But then what pattern do we use? (That's a whole post in itself.) But I need to stash-bust, and there's a project I've had my eye on for a while, Inga's Haeckbucklwfelf er... Haekelbeutel. 16 grannies, so I have a few extra days in case I get a migraine or need to study, and I can also knock out a few for my grandma's afghan, too. What yarn do we use? Oh, don't you know me? Don't you know I need the COLOR?!
Ohhhhh yeah, this is going to be sick, SICK I TELL YOU. And yes, I'll look like a 5 year old with a crayon bag, but that just goes with me, right? I have some rainbow jungle fabric I think I might line it with. But there's a connundrum here, too! Do we do 4 blocks in each color, or have each block have all the colors in it? Um, have 4 blue, 4 green, etc, or each block has a round of yellow, a round of green, and so on. If each block is a single color than the variegated Peruvian print will really pop but then how do we arrange them, be weird and have each "arm" of the bag it's own color, or stitch them so it's like a spiral? Um, let me Photoshop it for you...hm, ok, that didn't really work, but do you get my point?
When in doubt, ask Ravelry:
I really like VillaLankala bag, but I think my colors are too bright.
So, in solids?
I like bluesocks! I really like how the colors twirl.
And bluesocks's summery bag. I might go for something more like this:
But celtictrek has variegated. I might do something closer to this.
I'm not sure I could do it just randomly though. We'll see.
Joining and a strap? Maybe red for joining and Peruvian print for the strap? Yeah, I like planning ahead.
But enough, Anthony is on!
Ohhh yeah. Wait, a tower of shredded pig lungs?
