Twelve Days of Christmas Domo

Contrary to popular belief, Christmastide, which is celebrated by the familiar carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas" begins on the day after Christmas, or Boxing Day, if you're not American. It concludes on January 6th, Twelfth Night, which apparently isn't just a Shakespeare play, but marks the beginning of Epiphany. The carol proved to be great inspiration for a daily photography project: The Twelve Days of Christmas Domo. I had a lot of fun with this project, especially figuring out how to fit the theme of each day when I didn't readily have supplies, such as turtle doves or pipes.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me a Domo in a Christmas tree!

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me two Domos scaring the living daylights out of a turtle.

Disco said he can't get his glitz wet or he'll rust. No one's really convinced, but he's allowed the HMS Hippo just in case.

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me eight Domos-a-milking.

Well, more like praising a glass of chocolate milk, but you get the idea. And of course chocolate milk. That's the only milk Domos will drink.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me nine Domos-a-dancing.

Everyone was so excited to dress up for the Domo Formal. Hawaii Five-Domo said his date was going to be late, but no one really believes him. Disco and Grimace treat everyone to a traditional Candy Cane Dance to bring peace and good luck to the new year.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ten Domos-a-leaping...?

"C'mon guys, leap!"

All: "We ARE leaping!"

No, your feet can't be touching the tub. You need to get lift, get into the air.

All: "We ARE lady!"

Hawaii to Disco: "We're leaping...right?"

Disco: "It feels like it!"

(Bonus points for finding Adalind.)

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me eleven Domos-a-piping.

Wait...piping, you guys are supposed to be piping! I thought we went over this yesterday!

Pink Mama Domo: We're cleaning pipes... with pipe cleaners. Thus piping.

Final day! I just happened to be going to my friend's house on Twelfth Night and he's a drummer! So that's why I packed everyone in and off we went.

Photography projects for August

ADAD 1: Domo meets Milagro by onepinkhippo
ADAD 1: Domo meets Milagro, a photo by onepinkhippo on Flickr.

Two photography projects are going on in this nice hot month of August.

A DOMO A DAY

The first is going to be similar to Every Day in May. Every day, using my Instagram Camera App on my iPhone, I'll take a picture of my Domo-Kuns. I haven't decided if it'll be a month of Snowflake Domo, but that's what I'm leaning towards. He's smaller and more portable, especially when I'll be in New York City later this month, and school the last few days.
I think, like EDiM, I'll keep a running chart of all my photos on here. You can see them every day on the ADAD Flickr Set, and on Mondays I'll post a mosaic so as not to spam ya'al with Domo love.

Day 1: Domo meets Milagro
Day 2: King of the Yogurt
Day 3: Sick Day, In Bed All Day
Outtakes Wednesday: Week 1
Day 4: Domo feels quite small in a rather large world
Day 5: Domo interprets my dreams

Snow, from January 27

DC, and I suppose the whole east coast, was bombarded with snow again. It wasn't a snowpocalypse, but it was a trafficpocalypse. People were in traffic from 5 to 12 hours. On the GW Bridge, there was a 12 hour backup, and people finally deserted their cars and walked. I was lucky enough to be in between classes and hanging out, and when I found out classes were cancelled I left immediately. It wasn't too bad, but I'm glad I was able to leave when I did.

The next day was a snow day, and I went out and walked around a little.

Photography Mondays!

I'm bringing them back.  Hopefully.  I took this in Union Square when I was in NYC last time.

Picture post!

I have a lot of FOs to post that are all in Ravelry and Flickr but not here yet, but I really don't feel like posting them. Meh.  Just some photos of the past few weeks will have to suffice.

The brilliant Jeanette sent me some CDs (in pink paper, woo!) and this shopping bag from a place in Milwaukee called Pink Pastry Hippo! Best place in the universe! Look how cute he is. Awh. I need to find a way to scan him in so he can be my mascot. He's currently watching me sleep hanging on my wall over my bed.

I love the Dollar Store. Whoever invented this place was a bloody genius. ITEMS FOR A DOLLAR! And there's nothing like yarn! Yarn for a dollar! I got some Caron Rhapsody, which I think is new. 6 skeins in a green/turquoise color that the guy only charged me $1 for all six and two brown and one red for a hat for a friend. I also got some pens that look like rockets and seeds were 4 for $1! This year, along with everything else, we'll have [hopefully. Fingers crossed.] carrots and spinach with the veggies and herbs along with morning glories and cosmos. Hopefully this year my dad won't weed-whack my cosmos like he did last year. :( I was so sad. He thought they were weeds.

A few nights ago I made cod with tomato pesto for my family. It was delicious but not as great as the tomato pesto I made tonight! Tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, garlic and feta cheese, heated up in the pan so the cheese would melt, added to chicken (flavored only with salt and pepper to let the pesto sing!) and spinach pasta. Mouthgasm!

This is such a "mom" picture, but they rarely sleep together and it was so cute!

This is probably the best picture I've taken of Arwen evarh. Hahah. WHOZZAT OVA DERE?

I'm not sure exactly what these little red berries are, but they're great for pictures.

I love the silver of these things against the blue of the sky.

And roses, I love roses, especially yellow ones. It is my middle name, after all.

Picture post!

Yay, don't we all love it when I take pictures!? And then when I sleep all day due to a migraine and am wide awake at 11 PM even thought I still have a migraine? And extremely hyper due to prednisone? (Seriously, I should have some major muscles by now.) Since there's not much else I can do besides read (I'm already on my third book this cluster set; 200 pages in A Million Little Pieces) listen to soft music, and do some crossword puzzles, I figured "hey, why not blog?!" Apparently I can stay on the computer for a while. Screwy ain't it?

First I have to thank the lovely EssHaych, even though the only thing she did was pull my name out of a hat, but I won a Monstie! In pink! And she had a little photo shoot today. I meant to take her outside but completely forgot; another time.

I love those braids (And the fact she's making "the O-Face" from Office Space.)

With her little sticky feet friend! I have a black one, too, from when I bought an Eggbert(a).

Then we got a little artsy. (That's the pinecone I meant to take outside.)

I need to take a picture of her up against something that I've made for scale. This thing is tiny. (No, she doesn't have a name...yet. Any ideas?) And the stitches are so small and perfect! You're one of my idols, EssHaych. Thank you so much for this awesome addition to my craft table.

~

I had a migraine today, and oddly the cold weather makes it go away temporarily. Since it was snowing (local schools didn't have snow) I decided to take Charlie and go shoot/go for a walk. It wasn't cold enough to make me forget, but I did get some nice shots. The whole set is here on Flickr, but these are some of my favorites:

This is from my back window before the sun came out when I was too much of a wuss to go outside. I love those trees, though. If you follow me, you'll see this shot a lot. With snow, summer, spring, autumn, monkeys hanging out there, you name it.

I love the effect of snow through the branches.
I really hope it's effect not affect or I'll feel really dumb.

I adore these seed pods. They're so awesome for photographs. Anyone know what species of tree they hail from?

I really like pinecones. This was the only one I saw. I wish I had brought my pinecone with me. Next time.

Down that little ravine is where I went exploring a few weeks ago.

The snow reminded me of icicles.

I like pine needles, too.

I have absolutely no idea what type of plant it is, but it's purple, therefore awesome. Plus snow? Perfect for my camera.

Apparently we're getting another blizzard this weekend, which means more snow shots. I need to find somewhere else to go walking; Kingstowne is getting boring.
