Hippo Progress & Granny Daughters

I really need to get back into using my cameras, both my DSLR and point-and-shoot, as I've gotten lazy and rely on my iPhone. It can take okay pictures, but it's main purpose isn't as a camera, so it doesn't have the best.

Anyway, more progress on my hippo, Pastiche:

I've started decreasing for the head. That big blob of red that looks like lipstick is where the snout will go. I love the pooling!

This is how I usually am sitting though:

And yes, she's sitting right on the pattern. I usually have to move her at least once a night. She sits on anything I'm working on, be it the computer, a knitting pattern, or homework. She's there. Silly Arwen.

And I found a possibly handmade knit sweater in an old box that had American Girl doll clothes in it, and of course had to put it on Susie!

After seeing my friend Jeanette lay out all her granny daughters I had to do it with mine:

So many! I couldn't fit all the rounds around because of the furniture but it's a good idea of the size. Unfortunately, I think I'll need a few more swaps and a couple hundred more to make it fit my bed. Last count was 563 so I'll need 157 more to make it to 720. With two partners that's...like a swap and a half. Not too bad! Now to just join them all. But the "join as you go" technique isn't that bad.

What I really need to do, now that I'm inspired, is to lay out the squares for other blankets I have/need to finish:

Grandma's 80th birthday afghan, which looks like it's 81st birthday now
2009 Afghan, using 12" squares from Craftster and Ravelry CALs and 6" square from the Ravelry CAL

The Happy Summer Hexagon afghan I think I've done two hexagons? I think I need to buy some more yarn for it. But it's the perfect motivator to find the cord for my point-and-shoot and get snapping!

One pink hippo on a truck in New York City!

Crafts will resume as soon as this cluster migraine goes away.

Pink Hippo Spotted in Kenya!

It's one pink hippo! In real life!!

"Being an animal that is so strikingly different often results in a hard life; these creatures frequently become outcasts, rejected by their conventionally colored peers. In this case, however, we were relieved to note that the other hippos seemed to be treating the pink hippo just like any other."

Good luck, pink hippo! Stay out of trouble!

A few things...

Such has HEXAGONS! I found these on someone's blog, and need to find where they make them ASAP.

What a spectacular cereal!

On crazymomquilts' blog on Monday she posted an adorable hexagon needle book she had made:

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen?!  The link to the tutorial is HERE, and the hexagon template she used is HERE.  I can't wait until I have another day off to make some clean the crafting room and then make some.

I've uploaded my New York City pictures onto Flickr finally.  You can find them all HERE.  As you know I visited the Lion Brand Yarn Studio for a class.  I have some pictures of the yarn I bought and the baby gator I made, but those are still on the camera, so I'll get those soon.  But how did I know it was the LBYS?

By the yarn bombing outside, of course!

Ohhhh, it was beautiful.

OK, so I was really excited to meet Anna and make some baby gators.  Once he's completely finished, I'll
 add him on here.

Speaking of Anna, I asked if she could make a tiny hippo, and she did!  Look how cute!  I hope I can get a pattern to make a whole multicolored army bunch for myself!

P.S.  I also finished my baby gator today!  Pictures tomorrow!

Fun With Etsy

NOTE: Clicking on the picture will take you to the seller's Etsy shop.

After browsing through Regretsy today, I decided to see if I could find anything weird.  How do those people find such weird things and why can't I find any?!  Well I found this:

Which just isn't to my liking.  It was also tagged under 'weird.'  It's like the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. Haha, I love Etsy.  But I continued to browse and found some really neat things.  Like this hat I wanted to get sososo bad for my girls but it sold:

How about an apple ukulele?

Or some adorable frog amigurimis!? I love their little wheel legs.

And then you all know me, I had to search "hippo." A Hello Kitty wearing a blue hippo suit?!

So cute! A hippo stamp!? I might just have to buy it!

AND A WHOLE STORE DEDICATED TO HIPPOS?!?!?!? WITH HIPPO EARRINGS?! Eeeee! I really need some of these earrings, I think these are my fave:

I really think I need them. :3 I forgot just how much fun Etsy is!
