Baby umbrellas at Home Depot.

I got stuck on Braddock Road going to Mason and didn't feel like sitting in traffic, so I turned into a random neighborhood, snapped a pic and turned around.

Every Day in May catchup!

But first, look to the veeeeeeeeery top right hand corner. See it? Blogger has pages now, very fancy.  There's only patterns and recipes now, maybe an About Me later? Patterns needs some pictures and recipes should be up and posted soon.  They'll be links to regular posts, but all up there nice and dandy like a mini database.

I know, I'm getting tired of flowers too, especially the ones that are just around my house. I need to start going out, even if it's just for short walks around the neighborhood. I couldn't imagine doing Project 365, it'd be flowers and cats 24/7.

#14
Though Friday I went on a bike ride. Just a short one, up to the grocery store. (Post on that later.)

#15
And Saturday I got my garden together. (More on that later, too.) I still have a lot to do: weeding and getting the ground together before I can add the soil and plant my little seedlings. I hope this rain lets up soon!

Upcoming posts!
1. My nifty package from Sarah/EssHaych! ♥
2. I Fought the Blender, but the Blender Won
3. Gardening 101
4. Hexagons?
5. Oh, and definitely a Squares on Sunday post, even if it is delayed.

Happy Bunday!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

EDiM #2

Brown Sheep Burly Spun spun into cakes.

O BTW, happy 200th post!

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Hello all!

I know, I know, I skipped this past week's Squares on Sunday's update, but I am still doing squares. I'll just have a big wrap up post this weekend, and there's another granny - a - day CAL for May so I'll do that, too! I finished Inga's bag, but am having trouble figuring out the lining so for the time being it's unusable. I also put aside making hexagons from my British DK wool and acrylic mix and have decided to bust my acrylic stash using the same pattern. I'll make a hex a day and join as I go as the last round will be in white. Big dotty acrylic fab blanket at the end! Pictures soon. And pictures from Richmond too, where I was this weekend. I had a fantastic time! :]

May's going to be a busy month. First there's the CAL, and Every Day in May Round II! First though, the first week of May is Polaroid Week, from the 3rd to the 7th. You can take two shots a day and post them in the Flickr pool, and film comes in a pack of 10 which is perfect. I haven't used my Polaroid in far too long. Unfortunately I think the film's expired, but it'll just make more interesting shots. Sadly I don't even know if I can get film anymore since they stopped producing it.

Every Day in May Round II! I had so much fun last year with it I'm going to do it again, but this year we're going to have some rules:
  1. All pictures must be taken on Charlie (my Canon Rebel). None of those cheap cell phone shots this year. Which means wherever I go Charlie goes, too because...
  2. The pictures must be representative of the day (at least a little). I know some days I stay in bed all day, so a picture of my bed isn't going to count, but if I go to DC then I should take a picture of the trip. I'm not sure how this is going to work, but I'm aiming for it.
  3. And the last, they shouldn't be snapshots, they should be more artistic. Instead of just doing something everyday, which I know I can do, I should make it harder and strive for something each day, so following these rules to produce an artistic shot that is representative of what I did on that specific day in May should be good.
I haven't decided if I'll post them every day on here and Flickr, or just do a weekly update or whatever, but you'll know soon enough.

Days 25 & 26

Guh, this is seriously getting annoying.  I only stick with it because (a) it's almost over (b) my OCD will drive me crazy if the post with all the days is incomplete and (c) I don't like not finishing stuff, like I didn't finish NaNoWriMo?  That still burns me up.  That and the fact half my files are gone...

Day 25 → your day, in great detail.
I can't remember what I did yesterday. I know it wasn't terrifically interesting. Let's see. I had to write my paper on Emily Dickinson's "I cautious, scanned my little life," while watching a Moonlight marathon. Good times.

Yummeh vampires. :E

I couldn't think of an introduction or conclusion, and my title totally sucks, but I think I got a better grip on it than I did Nathanial Hawthorne's "Rappaccini's Daughter." Then I debated whether going to class or not, and decided yeah, it'd be better to go. Sometimes English class can be really boring, but I like Dickinson, I shouldn't miss when I don't feel like it, and I needed to sign up for an individual conference and didn't want to be stuck with 9AM on Friday. I came home and took a nap... ate dinner, and instead of doing homework I know I was totally absorbed in last.fm and tumblr. Ha. I went to the post office, and mailed some stuff, though sorry Sarah, the APC doesn't do international. I probably read some Grapes of Wrath and went to sleep, yay. That was so worth it, wasn't it.

Day 26 → your week, in great detail.
Pff. Um, I don't think last week I was in class on Thursday. Wasn't I really sick? I think I was. I know over the weekend I went to the grocery store. I haven't been knitting or anything; today's the first day since like Valentine's Day I've done anything. Monday I realized my interpretation of "Rappaccini's Daughter" was completely flawed, so I wasn't too thrilled with that. Tuesday the parking was hell, so I was late to arms and armor and my quiz. In anthropology, ancient Mesomerica, we took a hell of a lot of notes, and then my professor got a headache and ended class early. High Renaissance, more notes about the Sistine Chapel.

Notice anything *ahem* interesting in the placement of Eve's head in relation to Adam's body?  Yeah.  This is the Temptation and Fall from the Sistine Chapel.

I realized my friend was in my astronomy class, and we chatted, then left after 30 minutes because that class is bullshit. I went to the testing center to take the exam, and the proctor said I was the fastest for astronomy. Go me, I hope I got a good grade. Wednesday's recapped above. Today after driving all the way out to school my head started pounding. I parked, took medicine, and realized there was no way I could make it, so I turned back around. What a waste. Slept, and such. Then I started working on my friend's [late, sorry!] birthday present, and cast on for another Reverie Beret while watching Sherlock Holmes, and Dangerous Liaisons, one of my new favorite films.

Sexxxxxx. Love his voice, too. Ah, who knew John Malcovich was so cute in 1988! And so evil, which made him even more sexy and adorable.

Looking forward to the weekend, woo!

No more May. :(

May 28: DC, the view from my hairdresser's house.

May 29: Scrabble. (I won!)

May 30: I went to see RENT with two original cast members: Adam Pascal (Roger) and Anthony Rapp. (Mark) This is the third time I've seen it and definitely the best performance.

May 31: Last day! :( I'm going to get them all printed and make a little book. It's surprising all the stuff I've done in May. *whew* Maybe June won't be as long.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not dead. Well, not fully. I had a horrible combination of migraine and sinus infection and was on a ton of meds, then I went to the hospital, then more meds, blah blah. But I'm better now, recovering slowly. The great thing is, I managed to still take a picture each day I was sick. Dedication, no?

May 22nd: Poor little Susie has been having troubles with her poos so we took her to the vet but they were forced to keep her overnight because she refused to give them a fresh sample. Silly kitty. Needless to say, she wasn't too happy when we picked her up. But she was content to ride around in the car for a bit.

May 23rd: I wish this was my license! It says CRFT DVA if you can't see clearly.

May 24th: Me in the hospital, after I waited in triage for two hours. So many people came in with symptoms of just the common cold but the swine flu, though it hasn't been in the news recently, still has people freaked out. This was right after I got my meds. (praise God!) See the IV?

May 25th: This is what the past few days have consisted of - just being in bed with my Hippo for comfort, a box of tissues always at my side, the vomit bucket we took from the hospital and trashy magazines, though the pain was so severe I was just able to read yesterday.

May 26th: Mr. mochaxlight came to visit me yesterday! The first time I had seen him since like the 20th. He brought me breakfast, what a cutie. :]

May 27th: This is Bleu. He belongs to one of my cat sitting clients. Poor thing is deaf and completely freaks out when he realizes I'm next to him.

Here's to hopefully not getting sick for a nice, long time! *I hope!*

Champagne supernova in the sky.

My April Ravelry square, Supernova. I did Waldo's Puzzle for the 2008 BAM CAl and had always wanted to try this. Thanks myklia for the purple yarn. ;]

May 21st's picture, Arwen and her fang. (Can you see, it's right above the bell on the right side?) For some reason, this canine is longer than the other. My mom hates her fang, especially when she's sleeping on her left side with her head in the air and there's this single fang hanging out her mouth. Secretly, she's a pirate. Argh.

EDIT: I only have 10 more pictures to take! The month goes by fast when you're taking photos every day.

More EDiM

May 19: Fish from the thrift store. This is actually a frame. Imagine having him in your house with two of your best friends peeking out his belly. Needless to say, I didn't buy him. But I did get:

May 20:...BAMBOO yarn for FIFTY CENTS! That's right, be jealous. It's a tiny ball, I'm not sure what to do with it though. Perhaps later I'll buy more and make something, or I'll combine it with some other worsted weight bamboo yarn and making something with that.

At the thrift store yesterday, I also scored some knitting needles and crochet thread for $1. I would know the size of the needles (the packaging says size 6 but there's a few in there and they have different...girths.) but I lost my handy Susan Boye needle and hook measuring and swatching device. I'm excited to make some doilies with the thread, it's metallic! I also got some fabric...actually, curtains. I got some bird curtains for me, not sure what to make, and some flowered curtains I'm going to use to make my mom a needle case. Not crafty related, I scored The Book of Kells (art history shout out) and some awesome cobalt blue high heels. :]

~*~

Contrary to popular belief, I have been knitting. I'm working on a hat for my cousin's new baby, Ruby, and I finished a square for the 2009 BAM CAL. This is the April Square. It was supposed to be Waldo's Puzzle, but I did that on the last afghan, so I chose Supernova instead. Sadly, I can't locate the picture.

Soon pictures from Mr. mochaxlight and I's trip to VA Beach will be added. We had great weather; it didn't rain until we left Friday. I bought two new hermies, seen in May 18th's EDiM, Big Pink and Rasta. They're kinda lethargic; I think it's the lack of food. Apparently, the commercial hermie food is bad, and I've been having bad migraines and I haven't been able to get the or the fish lettuce, or fruits or anything. Also, anyone know how to clean sand without sifting through everything? I'd rather them not have to sleep in their poo until I get new sand.
