Favorite Book Swap Goodies

I received my fun package from my swap partner JustDontChange in my Favorite Book Swap over on Craftster.org. Boy, she spoiled me!

She posted a teaser picture for me in the thread, and it was of this handsome fellow:

so when I got my package, he was the first thing I looked for. Books what? Nope, I'll take some handlebar whiskers, please.

But I eventually pulled my attention away from his "prodigious whiskers" (it was hard, very hard) to check out all my loot. First up, books and candy:

SweetTarts (which every time the girls hear the box shake they think they're getting treats. HA. I should give them one and see what happens...), PopRocks! and some glow stick bracelets for when I go raving. Or maybe just clubbing. Anyway, she sent me The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon, which has been on my list for like 3 years, and my friend has been bugging me to read, so I'm looking forward to that. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett which I might start tonight. I've been wanting to read some Gaiman, and this looks like a good start. Prey by Michael Crichton (one of my favorite authors; I sent her Jurassic Park. Great minds, right?) which my mom is reading because she didn't remember it, and Backwater by Joan Bauer (Jack Bauer, can you hear me?) which I haven't heard of, but it looks good.

And onto the plethora of crafty goodness!

A tote bag (which might be going to class tomorrow) with a quite by Nabokov (love him, too) that says (if you can't read it or are too lazy) Literature and butterflies are the two sweetest passions known to man. Yes indeed. Though I do favor moths, we'll just sidestep that small detail. There was a little punch buggy bookmark (no idea how she found out I LOVE VW Bugs) and a card wallet made from the cover of a Jack Kerouac book. (Another favorite author.) Good, now when I go to the clubs with my fancy bracelets, I won't have to worry about losing my monies and ID because ol' Jack Boy will be protecting it. ;]

A little hidey book thing. I'm not too sure what it's called; it looks like a book when you put it on the shelf, but surprise, surprise! there's a hidden compartment, not pages. Inside mine were some COFFEE CHARMS (earrings? oh yes) and some IKEA chocolate. Mm. The front, the mosaic is from Life of Pi by Yann Martel, another one of my favorites, and which I just noticed when someone noticed it on the gallery thread. *headdesk*

The back of the hidey book thingy had words pasted on it, I'm sure from one of my favorite books, but I'm a little too excited to really notice small details. And the coup de grĂ¢ce...or icing on the cake, rather, was the fabric covered journal with a quote from my favorite book of all time, Interview With a Vampire!!! Eee, it's the opening line, from Louis de Point du Lac (who is my second favorite vampire, after Mick St. John, of course) "So do you want me to tell you the story of my life?" *squeeee* I love it, I love EVERYTHING! Thank you so much JustDontChange!

I sent her Interview With a Vampire (duh), Jurassic Park because I love Michael Crichton and Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier, which is another one of my faves. I have too many faves. I sent her a dinosaur cloth (to go with Jurassic Park) and an amigurumi octopus, because she had mentioned she liked them but couldn't get them down. (The pictures have been lost, so they're Ravelry links. Sorry non-Raveleres.) I also added a few extras.

YES, definitely read it and let me know what you think. I LOVE vampires, especially Anne Rice's and Moonlight. I despise Twilight though. Eugh.
